Washington, Maine 

Washington, Maine is a little rural town that can be found on your map at 44.2736° N latitude, 69.3677° W longitude.  The town was originally incorporated into the state of Maine in 1811 as Putnam.  It officially became Washington in 1825.

With just over 1,500 year round residents, Washington is a quiet town.  It’s filled with deep woods, rolling hills, and open farm fields.  In the northwest  is beautiful Washington Pond, perfect for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming.

The Gibbs Library, run entirely by volunteers, offers a range of programs for children and adults. You can join a book clubs, get access to (and help with) computers, and attend fun Holiday events like the annual Trunk or Treat celebration. 

The town also has an active Historical Society and Grange Hall Association.  These organizations regularly offer services to and host events for area residents. 

The local school, Prescott Memorial School, is a K-6 elementary school.  Prescott educates about 100 students each year.  The Town of Washington also offers children and families opportunities to join sports teams, participate in fun runs and races through the town and on Washington Pond, march in parades, and more throughout the year.
